Frequently Asked Questions

To meet the ACGME fundamental clinical skills requirements, all TY residents will do four blocks of inpatient (one of them as night float), and one block each of general surgery, emergency medicine, ICU and ambulatory clinic.

TY residents get five electives during the academic year. All TY residents are scheduled for an elective in the final block of the year to allow for transition to their specialty program.

TY residents will have one block in the Soin Family Practice clinic. They will see acute appointments, hospital follow-ups and perform procedures. TY residents can also see patients at Good Neighbor House during the block.

Didactics are 12-5pm Friday afternoons in an 18-month rolling curriculum based on AAFP/ AFMRD / ABFM recommended teaching Includes: Practice Management, Quality, M & M, Case Reports, Simulation and education curriculum.

Yes! Kettering Health Network is very supportive of away rotations including global rotations. You can do 2 rotations away locally or internationally.

Absolutely! Both hospitals are part of Kettering Health Network and will not count as away electives.

Yes, we have a standard curriculum for all residents which includes 4-5 extended didactic sessions at Kettering College each academic year as well as shorter didactic sessions on specific MSK POCUS topics during our didactic time at Soin Family Practice Center. Additionally, we have ample opportunities for expanded training experiences for those who choose a POCUS elective with flexibility for various interests within ultrasound (i.e. Ob/Gyn, MSK, outpatient, inpatient, etc...).

We also have eight Butterfly iQ probes available for use in the outpatient clinic, in the inpatient setting, and available for checkout for those on the POCUS elective or global health work!
