"The transitional year program at Kettering Medical Center was the perfect educational opportunity before my advanced program. Inpatient and outpatient case volume and diversity were at the right level where I built a solid foundation in general medicine without being overworked. Generous electives allowed me to do research, rotate at my future institution, and pick up skills at Kettering in my field which facilitated a seamless transition to PGY-2. My attendings and co-residents were some of the most genuine, caring people I have ever met. The facilities, food, and other amenities were the best I've ever seen at a hospital of this size. Overall, I strongly recommend this program, and was really sad that I had to leave."

"The people at Kettering made my time there, not only educational, but also enjoyable. I've never worked with such a happy and caring group. It is as if you are immediately part of their family. During my year of training, I also had a baby who was born very premature and had to spend almost half of the year in the NICU. Everyone was extremely supportive and accommodating. I can't imagine trying to go through such a hard situation anywhere else, let alone during residency. I will be forever thankful for my time there."

Raymond Krause, MD, TY 2019
"Kettering Medical Center's Transitional Year Program provided me with an exceptional residency foundation. The abundance of educational resources, in combination with a diverse patient population, allowed me the opportunity to sharpen my clinical decision-making and diagnostic abilities throughout the year. The medical education faculty and staff are dedicated, creating a supportive environment with resident wellness fully in mind. I had the flexibility of tailoring a good portion of my schedule to career interests and aspirations. It is truly a special and one-of-a-kind program."

Michael Appeadu, MD, TY 2019
"Kettering is a wonderful place to train because you are treated like family. I was supported and encouraged from the beginning to the end of my training. I learned all the basics of medicine which will help me as I enter my chosen specialty, and I gained confidence in my clinical decision-making skills. Would I choose Kettering again? In a heartbeat!"
